When a natural disaster strikes, the damage goes far beyond what we can see. The emotional aftershock can be just as real as the physical loss. Many survivors experience disaster-related trauma, including anxiety, guilt, hypervigilance, and grief. Your mind and body have been through chaos, so feeling disoriented or on edge is a normal response. Grounding yourself in the present helps. Try naming five things you can see, four things you can touch, or three things you can hear. Simple routines and connection to safe people rebuild stability. Healing after a disaster is not about ignoring what happened but learning to live with it in a new way.
