Abuse is not only physical. It can take the form of control, manipulation, isolation, and emotional exhaustion. Leaving an abusive relationship is a courageous first step, but the healing that follows takes time. You may grieve the version of love you once believed in, and that grief is valid. Healing means rebuilding trust in yourself, redefining boundaries, and finding what safety feels like again. Therapy or support groups can help you understand that love should never demand you shrink yourself. Real love allows you to feel free and safe in your own body.
